CELL PROFILE

Types & cells

A type groups similarly classified neurons. Cell count is the number of reconstructed neurons assigned to that type in this dataset, not a count of types or segmentation fragments.

Region & ROI

A region is a broad anatomical area; an ROI is a more specific annotated volume. A neuron can have synapses in several ROIs. Neither label implies a single proven function.

Predicted transmitter

Neurotransmitter labels are predictions, not direct measurements. They cannot alone determine every synapse's excitatory or inhibitory effect.

Synapses & connections

Synapse-site counts and partner-contact counts use different definitions. One presynaptic release site can contact several postsynaptic partners; these totals need not match.

Classification & lineage

Superclass, class and subclass describe the annotation hierarchy. Hemilineage and soma neuromere describe developmental or anatomical grouping, not a simulation parameter.

Dimorphism & previews

Dimorphism tags describe reported or potential sex-related differences. Each preview shows one real representative skeleton, not every cell of the type; missing morphology is reported explicitly.

Data provenance & scope

Adapted for bilingual descriptions and skeleton previews. Data may be incomplete and annotations can change. flybrain is not endorsed by the source projects.
